All Greek to Me

My boy at New St. Andrews had his Latin
oral final today. He had had his Greek tests
earlier in the week. As he walked into the Latin
test, the professor looked up and said, "Hello"
in GREEK. Craig froze like a deer in the
headlights. The professor proceeded to ask
three questions in Greek about all the Latin
readings. Craig had to respond in Greek.
Craig was very close to blowing a gasket,
but he must have done pretty well. When
the test was done, the professor said, "I
think you are a language person." Craig
gave him a you're-out-your-mind look.
I think the guy may be on to something.

Wanton Waste

I don't have any use for wanton waste,
but I also don't think it is as heinous a crime
as some might. My concern is that these
guys were trained to be the leaders of our
military. They passed some of the most
rigorous standards anywhere. But, they
lack good judgment. Heck, they lack any
judgment. When the time comes to put
their men in battle, I don't trust them to
not fall back on wanton waste. My #3
boy will join the military this fall. I'm
so glad he has ruled out the Navy.
